Case Companion is a solution built to optimize clinical workflows, improve patient care, reduce costs in procedural areas, increase hospital revenue, and improve cash flow. Case Companion reduces time that clinicians spend documenting cases by allowing nurses to enter data once and simultaneously update hospital enterprise systems that are used to track materials consumed during patient cases, generate POs, decrement case inventory, and generate orders to replenish supplies.

Case Companion delivers powerful analytics to clinicians and supply chain, including:

Cost per case, per physician to help control costs.

Variance reporting to improve patient care while reducing costs.

Physician preference item usage data to help manage preference cards.

Exception reporting to show data errors that will prevent or slow reimbursements.

Recent estimates indicate that hospitals spend approximately $200 billion on medical devices each year. Case Companion ensures accurate billing and reimbursement for these high-cost, high-value items by simplifying data capture and delivering analytics that allow hospitals to:

Case Companion also has the power to help hospitals improve charge capture, reimbursements, and financial performance by accurately capturing supplies, including implantable devices, consumed during procedures.

Case Companion solves the problems caused by the inaccurate tracking of materials usage with simple-to-use, mobile, point-of-use technology that allows nurses to scan consumption during procedures, including lot numbers, serial numbers, expiration dates, and UDI-DI or GTINs for all stock items, bill-only items, consignment and trunk stock.  After recording consumption and finalizing the case, Case Companion will update the EHR, decrement inventory and send requisitions for stock items below PAR, and send requisitions to the ERP system for all bill-only, consignment, and trunk stock consumed.

The power of Case Companion is found in its analytics. The actionable data delivered by these reports allows the hospital to improve patient care, while improving the financial performance of the hospital. Case Companion will identify clinical variances between procedures, find data errors that are preventing payments, adjust PAR levels to reflect demand and eliminate waste through improved physician preference card management.
